Mission San Luis Rey De Francia

Geography and Architecture

The reigion my mission was built in is near the ocean, where most missions are built. It is called the coastal region.  Missions were built from adobe [ straw and mud ] bricks, and tiled roofs. They had arches, bell towers, and quadrangle [a central area with four sides ]. Workshops and friars quarters are on the sides.  A church and a cemetary are outside. And solider's quarters are separate. Then you take stairs to the gardens and vineyards. It had native painting designs and small glass domes. It's unique because it has a separate room for soliders and big gardens and vineyards.
